I'm hoping somebody can give me a few things to look for on a friends computer that crashes frequently.
The curser goes to the top half of the screen and is way out of sync with the mouse.
Can't bring the curser below the middle of the screen.
He has to shut the it off at the switch to get back and it only works for a short time before the mouse locking like that again.
Any suggestions will be greaty appreciated.
The computer is built on an abit bh6 motherboard. I believe P2 400.

Most of the problems like this I have seen are video related. Try installing the standard VGA adapter and see if the problem disappears. If it does then upgrade the viseo driver.

Sounds like you may have an IRQ conflict between some other system component and the mouse.

I've also seen this problem when you are using an off-brand mouse driver that came with a game or something.

First thing to do would be to check out <start> <settings> <control panel> <system> <device manager> and see if there are any yellow "!" marks anywhere. While you are there, double click on "my computer" to pull up the IRQ settings to look for conflicts there.

You can also back up into control panel, select the mouse icon and go through device setup again to possibly fix the issue.
