Hi!
First, my setup:
Athlon 500 (week47 o/c to 700 @ 1.60v)
Asus K7M Rev 1.04 (AMI BIOS dated 01/13/00 aka KM124)
GW FKK08 Heatsink (modified with bigger fans)
128Mb Micron -8E rated PC100 SDRAM (in DIMM1 slot)
IBM 34GXP 13.6g
Quantum Fireball ST 3.2g
Toshiba 32x
HP 7570i 2x2x24x CDWriter
OEM 16Mb G400 (PwrDesk v5.41)
SBLive! Value (LiveWare v3.0)
Sumsung 700IFT
No-brand Full Tower with 300w 'Wintech' P.S
Win98SE + DX7.0
My problem is, although I have an ATX P.S, the system simply won't auto power-off by itself when I choose "shutdown" in Win98SE.
Instead the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen pops up!!
I went to this link for help but to no avail...
http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/troub-51.shtml
I've tried installing the latest Win98SE shutdown patch and also played around with all Power-Mgmt settings inside K7M BIOS.
Also tried changing settings inside Control-Panel->System->Device Manager->System Devices->PCI Bus. Also no luck here...It also seems like the K7M mobo does not support ACPI BIOS at all...
I can simply turn the computer off when the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen comes on, but I want to know what happened?
