A Lexmark printer attached to the cpu will only print form a proggy that prints directly - such as Wordpad. Any proggy that would normally pop up a properties box for the printer does nothing. The cursor does not even flinch when the File-Print option is selected.

The drivers have been reinstalled numerous times and affected reinstalled programs as well. Outlook is one such program and a greeting card program is another. The registry appears to be in order when compared with another system.

Any ideas?

Which Lexmark is it?

This is a shot inthe dark but are you using a IEEE 1284 cable? (If so you will see IEEE1284 printed ont he cable somewhere) What this cabl does is allow for better communication from the printer to the computer. Newer printers tell the 'puter info like how muchink is left. If that is the box that is not popping up, then that might be the solution. Anyway, like I said this is a shot in the dark and may be too simple. Good luck-Dave

Definitely not the cable. The window I am referring to is the Properties box for the printers. The one that allows you to set the pages to print (all, some, selected area), which printer you want to use for the job, the orientation of the page. Then it also lets you go in to the color settings and all the other properties for the printer selected. Thanks anyway.
