I have a KA3 MVP ECS motherboard and it only shows that it will handle memory up to 800MHz PC6400 dual channel DDR2. However I have found a good deal on PC8500 1066MHz dual channel DDR2 on Newegg. I plan on upgrading boards someday and can use the 1066 to its full capabilities. I wish to know if the memory is backwards compatible, or if the board will still work with the higher speed memory, but merely work at 800Mhz? Thanks in advance

Yes. The ram can be run at a lower clock rate.

Yes it may run, but then again will it be compatible with the new mobo when you get it?
My experience is that it is never a good idea to try to "future proof" parts such as processor, and RAM because they are obsolete when mobo designs and processor models change (which they do oh so quickly these days).
Buy what you need today and then sell off the parts later to finance the new build later.

Thanks Sterling...I know what you mean and yes, I could merely sell off the parts or build new and sell my old setup...
with AM2...dual channel DDR2 has stuck for the gender of the mobo's most of the time and I can't afford the newer memory upgrades when you get into high end memory and such...I'm stuck with the poh' boy stuff...smiling again

I got the email sent to all the moderators about this thread being hijacked, but I see no posts on here that justify that claim.
What are you complaining about djd_201?

There was a spammer earlier today. Maybe that's what he meant. Next time, tell us spammer instead of hijacker. hijack to me means that someone is posting inappropriate responses, not spam.

He (ffuusky) was doing both....Sig was full of spammy links and was completely changing the post topic with gibberish. Midknyte cleaned up the mess.

I never complained nor sent notice to anyone about any spamming or anything Sterling_Aug...this is news to me? I don't nor have seen any instance of it here. Its confusing.

I see mention of where MidKnyte had already cleaned up some problems which "ffuusky" had somehow slid in here. I never had a chance to see any of it as it was done and over with by the time I got a reply from anyone concerning the issue.
Its water under the bridge now I guess so to speak, but I am curious...did you receive a post from me complaining or notifying you of the occurence? This would be worrisome to me since I ner' did send anything to my recollection.

Sorry djd, I deleted the email already. I didn't check who it was sent from.
