I want to install a cel 533 on my QDI. The problem is that the processor is not specifically supported. It supports celeron 500Mhz and up to p3-600. It also has a multiplier of 8 which is what the 533 needs. I have the latest bios flashed. Isn't it a bit strange there is no support for it? In fact the processor is not mentioned at all in their compatibility list, as if it doesnt exist for any motherboard to support.
I already emailed QDI about this, but as with any other compatibility issue, they just ignored me.
All I'm asking is if you think there is any reason the chip will not be recognised and system will fail to boot or anything like that. I really dont see a reason but I'd like another opinion. Has anyone tried a processor that is not specifically supported on any motherboard, and what are possible outcomes?

I've had that situation myself on a Dell Optiplex puter. On mine, the 366Mhz Celeron was not supported, but the 400's were...go figure. I assumed, since I had the proper multiplier and FSB settings to allow a 366 to work in the system, that it would....... unfortunately, it did not. Could not get it to post or anything.

I'd wait for an answer from QDI. Perhaps they will officially support it in another bios upgrade.

You could always try a 533 out, as I don't think you would damage it by trying, but you may be wasting your time.

Yeah the 400Mhz celeron was released before the 366Mhz version strangely enough. I remember because when I wanted to buy a celeron I could only choose between 333 and 400. I chose the 333 and after 2 weeks or so the 366 was released!
What you told me is very dissapointing. I was hoping for a 533 to hit 600 with a FSB of 75.
The 500@562 will not be much different in performance, just doesnt sound as good. I'll keep emailing QDI every day. Sooner or later they will get sick of me. But I dont count on it. Those bastards never answered a single email of mine about cpu compatibility. Like when I asked if they ever planned to support coppermine on my motherboard
