Win98 Abit bx6 Quantum 6.4 gbMaster, WD Slave 1.6gb. I took WD out of my sons PC, same basic sys and board and set it up as a slave. It sees it on boot and under system in windows it has an entry and says its working. It will not show up under My Computer. If you disconnect other drive and make the WD master it boots fine. If you put on IDE2 as second master, same results as IDE1, doesn't show up in Win. Searched other posts and saw reference that some drives will not work together. Is there anything else I can try or does it sound like a problem between the disks?

sometimes, you have to tell windows the the next drive letter available, to display the drive.
You can add a line to config.sys
LASTDRIVE=Z
and reboot.
if you have MS's tweakui, you can do this on the fly.
just a thought...not much..good luck
Take all the jumpers off.No master,No slave that should do it.The drive does have an active partition on it right?

Thanks for the suggestions, last drive was
Z and I had tried no jumpers but I hadn't tried no jumpers on either drive. With NO jumpers the WD becomes the master and it boots OK, also if the WD is set so that it is the only drive and the Quantum set as slave it boots OK with the WD as master. It appears the WD does not like being a slave, at least with the Quantum so if I want to use I will have to make it a master and boot from it. I've been going to put NT back on this machine to dual boot so I think I will try that on it. Again Thanks
