I have a 333mhz computer running Win98. Whenever I shut down, the system goes through the process and then "It is now safe to turn off your computer" is displayed on the monitor. It has done this from day one, and I just thought it was normal. Is there a way to change this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It is normal. Some ATX motherboards and some NLX mobos turn off completely but not all computers do.
Are you saying it freezes on that screen?
If so it ahs to do with the onboard power managment disable it in your bios.

Would you like it to say something else? If so I could explain how to do it.
jad1097, please explain how to do it.
...sometimes I get bored and need something to do.
Thanks, Raz

This page explains it (http://www.softwarex.net/themes/faqs/screens.shtml) All you do is change or modify the LOGO.sys file.
Here are some programs (http://www.freewarehome.com/desktop/sp_tools.html) that will do it for you.
Have fun.

Ram, No it doesnt freeze up, thats just as far as the system will go to shut down. I have to manually turn the power off. With other systems once you "shut down" it turns the power off for you. You know what I mean? So I'm not really having a problem, I just want to know if there is a way for me change it so that once I shut down, it turns the power off also. Thanks in advance.

I like your question. it got me to thinking. not to be smart. but, you only have two choices. either change cases or the motherboard. some shut down the system, some don't. it veries from manf. to manf. one again not trying to be smart. but, stateing the facts.
