I am currently runninng a PIII-450 on a P2B-F 440 BX CHipset
Asus Motherboard with 128 MB of 100 MHZ Ram. I recently received a
Diammond
Viper V770 AGP 32 MB Riva TNT2 AGP card from a friend as a gift.
I removed my existing ATI Rage Fury 128 AGP card from the AGP slot in
the
motherboard and replaced it with the Diamond Viper Card. The mother
board
failed to display the POST on the monitor. I replaced it with the ATI
card
and again, the motherboard failed to display the POST on the monitor.
Luckily, I had a PCI video card available, and when I installed it, the
mother board displayed the POST. I tried both cards on two different
PC's
and they work fine. My question is do you think I destroyed my AGP slot
when
I switched cards ? If not, is there a way I can clear the CMOS on the
Mother Board to reset agp slot if it's not broken ? I would prefer to
use an
AGP card rather than a PCI card, but before I purchase a new mother
board, I
wanted to see if I could still fix the one I have. I have owned this
board
for only 8 months, so I cannot imagine how the agp slot would go so
quickly. I was very careful (at least I think I was !) when I removed and installed each card (unplugged power, touched steel to discharge static electricity). One final thing, I have an ATA 66 Card in my pci slot..dunno if that could be effecting my agp slot, but it worked before i removed my card, and I removed everyhting when I tried to see if any of the agp card could work.
Thanks
