Gene C. 01-27-2000, 05:26 AM There should be a setting in your BIOS setup that you can change to disable on-board video. If not, I would have to dig-up information on your motherboard to see if there is some other method (such as a jumper). At any rate, on-board video on/off is usually controlled through the BIOS setup. shoot me a bios string or your motherboard model number ect. Gene C. elroy 01-27-2000, 06:29 AM Most boards have a jumper on the board. It may have something like "Disable int vga" printed on the board next to the jumper. PC-guy 01-29-2000, 10:15 AM This is my first time at sysopt. Truly an exeptional forum! I have a question for act1, why do you want to disable your onboard video? Will this not cause major problems if you were to someday have trouble with your pc and need to use "safe mode" which of course uses your on board video? deep_sky 01-29-2000, 11:22 AM i dont have a compaq, but i do have on-board video and i cannot disable it completely. i can install a video card and set the pci slot to be the primary adapter instead of agp ( my on board video), so i guess they would work together somehow. i have never gotten a satisfactory answer as to what happens when you have onboard and video card.... and you probably want to keep it for those times you need to go into safe mode... Susan 01-29-2000, 05:22 PM I don't know about Compaq's, but with Packard Bells, all one needs to do is install another card. No disabling is necessary. SysOpt.com
