well I won't be getting win2k for at least 3 weeks but wanted to know ahead of time on what the most effective partitions would be. right now just win98/nt4 with c:\fat16
d:fat32 and e:ntfs. and what are your opinions on win2k. what is the cheapest price it will go for?

Hi bigslammer,
I currently dual boot with either...

1) Win98, FAT32
2) Win95, FAT32
3) NT4, NTFS

I then have a universal partition (FAT32) with all the programs for either Win98/Win95, and a universal FAT-16 partion with all my data on. If what I've heard about Win2K is true, then it will support FAT-32. This means you'll be able to have universal partitions over 2GB that can be read by 95/98/2000.

This will be very handy because you can store all your programs on one partition, and then run then under any OS you want. That should save some space!!!

As for how much Win2K will cost I'm not too sure. I'm from the UK so I we'll probably have to pay twice as much as the rest of the world!!!

Slammer, I dont understand why you would want NT4 AND NT5(aka Win2K) on the same machine. But if you do should be no problem. I can tell you that YES win2K supports FAT32 natively (no software patch needed. If you are wanted to have BOTH versions of NT you will still be stuck with a FAT16 boot partition http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
