Are you using hardware or software based decoding?

If hardware, make sure you have the cables between the decoder and vid card installed correctly, plus the correct drivers. Make sure you dvd player software is set to use the hardware decoder.

If software, make sure you have the correct options set up for your dvd software. Also, since most dvd players use directx, make sure your running the latest version of directx (DX7.0) and the latest drivers for her video card. Also, does her system have enough power to effectively decode dvd's through software. A 350+ mhz system is high recommended.

Good luck.

thx robrich I can always count on your good advice. but no I haven't checked out all that stuff yet cuz we just had a test today so I'll check it out later but it's a p2 333 not overclocked which should be enough power to run a dvd movie. thx again

also hope your braves can end the millenium with a world series ring. I've always said they deserve more than their one ring this decade. but the yanks look awfully good.
