I have an ATI 3650 that came in my work computer, a Vostro series ordered from Dell. I need to run two monitors on it but it's only got one DVI (which I'm using a DVI-VGA adapter), one HDMI, and one other connector I can't identify. It's in between the other two - flat, female, a little longer than the HDMI and doesn't have the angled off ends. By comparison, the retail versions of the 3650 have two DVIs.

Any idea what this third connection is for, and if there's there some kind of dongle/adapter for it? Is it another output that I could use for my second monitor?

Could you post a picture? Most of the 3650s I see are Dual DVI. Dell might have their own special card.

If you need more:
Matrox TripleHead2Go

Probably other makers of that sort of thing, just I do not if there is or not.

I'll try tomorrow. The machine is at work as I type this at midnight at home.

I've seen the retail 3650s and yes, they are dual DVI. This one came with the machine from Dell, not installed aftermarket.

Might be something your company could look into. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103012

You didn't mention which Vostro model you have. If it's a slim line case you can use this card in it with two monitors. You hook up the low profile plate on the card and use the supplied y-cable to hook up dual monitors.

If you have an ATX case and can fit a full profile card in the case then scrap the whole thought.

I've rolled out about a 1,000 of these on Dell Optiplexs.

It's a Vostro 200, full size case, not slim. The card is already installed and it's a brand new machine, so I'm trying to avoid buying another card to swap out.

Externally Accessible
Video: 1 VGA standard; 1 DVI and 1 S-Video with add-in PCI-Express video card

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/vostrodt_200mt?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd and select tech specs.

Change the card or get a add on like i posted are about your only choices. :(

Actually, in looking around at the other machines in the office, I think I found the solution. Another machine that's only running a single monitor has a different ATI card that has DVI and VGA connectors on it, so I'll probably just swap the cards and be done with it. All I'm doing is MS Office stuff...nothing graphics heavy...so ultimate performance isn't an issue.

That should do the trick, if they allow it.
