i tried autodetecting several times, it still didnt see it. the bios has a 1998 date, so i would think it would support the drive. anything else?

Did you try to manually imput the info? Also check to ensure the cable is in good working order. You've undoubtedly ensured that the cable is in correctly (red strip on the number one pin)...right? Just had to ask. Have you FDisked and reformatted the drive, is it a new/used drive, I cant remember. Lastly, ensure that the settings are correct on the drive itself ie...Master/Slave yada yada.

Mark, now that I went back and looked, i seen that it is a new HD. Also, as one last step, have you used the EZ Bios disk. It will set up your HD for you, just ensure that you manually imput the parameters in the BIOS.

MarkC, insure you set the motherboard BIOS to recognize your HD. If you have it, enable auto, makes this much easier. If not you need to manually imput all the data on your drive, ie..cyl, sectors, so the BIOS can recognize your drive.

i figured it out... i had the jumper on the hd set to master on the first channel, but it was the only drive. so i took off the jumper for a single drive and it was recognized by the bios.
