Hello there,

I'm wondering if anybuddy knows whats the best way to copy either mp3's or cd's to tape. (deck)
My sound card has :line in, speakers, and mike. I got a cable that I plug in the back of the soundcard (speakers) and I connect to the input of my tapedeck.
It does record, But, the sound dosen't sound as good as when it plays on the computer thru the speakers. There seems to be even a worst problem when I try to play cd's on the pc and then try to record.....it's almost like it loses bass...
I don't have a burner...so I can't burn to cd, and I also would like to listen to mp3's in the car as I have only a deck.
Any ideas?

Thanks kindly Liam

I have found that my sound card works fine into the Aux phonos on my Pioneer hifi - I often play music and games through this as it is better than my PC speakers.
As regards the tape deck, you may need to twiddle with input levels, Dolby NR and equaliser to get a good sound (if any of those are available).

Also be sure you are using the primary (headphone) output from the sound card, and not the surround channel output - this produced results very similar to what you describe (tinny sound, no bass)

Thanks for the replies.....

For those who asked I'm running a p2-300,128,3.2 gig on a houston motherboard. The sound is onboard, it dosen't sound bad despite the crappy MB.(i have also a sb live that I haven't installed yet)
What I normally do is run the song (mp3) on winamp, on the back of the pc I plug the cable in the speaker out of the sound card and the other side goes to my input of the tape deck. I don't have any other outs on the soundcard besides the mike and line in.
I never converted mp3's because the sound was coming out of the speakers very clear. So perhaps I need to convert them to ...wav or something else and then try again to record? The deck is a Sony conected to a Hitachi amp. When I connect the soundcard out to the amp, the sound is pretty good...the problem is recording. Could it be that the sound coming from the computer is digital and the tape deck is analog and it can't read very lows and very highs?

anyways thanks again for the help Liam

your over powering the tape deck inputs running the sound out of the speaker out of the sound card even with it turned all the way down it's probably still going to be to high of a out put. you need to have a sound card with a line out jack I would install the sound blaster live and disable the onboard sound then run your tape deck off the line out of the sound blaster it should work much better http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
