I'm getting a notebook this week and it's Vaio with a 4200 rpm 200 GB HD, I have a Hitachi that I bought a while back and it's a new 7200 rpm 200 GB HD
So do you swap them ?
Thanks in Advance

Keep in mind that the 7200 drive will run hotter and use more battery life.

If it is one with the ABLE technology, battery drain should not be much of a issue.
Found this:
"Dubbed ABLE or "Enhanced Adaptive Battery Life Extender" by Hitachi, this technology provides significant power savings by allowing the hard drive to enter "idle" and "adaptive" modes. In the latest version of this technology (3.0), the following modes are featured:"

Why not let the laptop go with the drive it comes with and install the high speed drive in an external USB enclosure to use a a backup data drive? A $20 investment for mobile storage to go.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe just leave whats in it, but for the external thing "Nah" I don't need one, 200 gigs is a lot of space for me i'm coming off another notebook that only had 80gigs and I lived with that for 3 years, I think the 7200 would be better for start up time but probably only save about 30 seconds at that, I read where these come bloated with junk software.
should be getting this latter today or tomorrow :)
