Ahoyhoy!

Well, today my PC ommited a loud pop and a smell like burned toast - it would seem the control board on my Maxtor DiamondMax10 (6L250S0 -- 250GB SATA150 16MB) Hard Drive has gone Pete Tong. Now theres about 240gig of files on here which i'd rather not see the back of -- as such i was wondering if anyone would know of anyone or any stores in the UK (or even overseas) who would be able to track down control boards, or would be able to sell me an exact match model and revision of the drive so i could fleece the control board from it and try it on this one?

Many Thanks

eBay has worked for several others in the past to get the correct hdd.

I've managed to find an appropriate control unit on E-Bay, im just checking with another source that it will work with my particular model -- anymore suggestions are welcomed though

Cheers

I am not sure if newegg.com ships items overseas, but it is worth a shot.

Unfortunately, they do not but you can try TigerDirect. That's one of their few selling points. You could also try CompUSA's online store, since TD's parent company recently bought them up.

Good luck on that older hard drive, though - I doubt anyone's still selling them new.
