I'm looking at some install disks for sale online and wondered...

An upgrade disk use to be good for one home desktop and one laptop...

is it still that way?

No, it was never good for two machines. It has always been one PC per CD license.

You should also be looking into slipstreaming SP3 into the XP CD as well.
