I have got Speedstream 6520 modem, I tried to update firmware from the link below:

http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bigpond.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_page=1%C2%AD&p_faqid=12383#2

I follow the instructions, not thing happened, software utility stays sitting there for ages to initialize.

I tried to upgrade from two different PCs, using two different cables, and two different router's ports.

I downloaded software on two different PCs to eliminate the possibility that the firmware might have corrupted.

Any advise where might the problem ?

If you are not in Australia, you should avoid BigPond firmware.

I see, but why ? Is there any other update for this type of router ?

Why are you updating it? Is there a problem?

No there is, just to do normal upgrade.

It might be OK or it might be bad and irreversible. I know that Siemens customizes firmware for various service providers, making some of them non-transferrable to other providers, so, it would be necessary to find an unlocked version, possibly like that suggested in this thread.

It is also common to see warnings with firmware downloads that it is not compatible with non-North American devices.
So, if you are not doing it to address a particular problem then you might leave well enough alone.
