I have a 33.6 soft modem that a friend gave me for free. It's a no name brand and let me tell you it was a SOB find the drivers for it. It has a PCTel 288i chipset if I remember right and it's identified in control panel as a "HSP 336-Deluxe PNP Modem". I ended up using some drivers I found at Zoltrix. They seem to work.

Anyway, the problem is that it always starts downloading at about 3k/s, then slows gradually to 2, then gradually to 1, and usually finishes the download at less than 1 k/s. Why? I've tried the ispeed program, but it seems to have zero affect on my system.

Relevant info:
K6-2-350
64meg RAM

Thanks for your insight.

I think your problem is that in modem properties or something like that there are two uptions a software flow option and a hardware flow option... I had a similiar problem till I changed mine from hardware(default) to software... see if this helps... I think it will
