i have win2k-desktop-pc with multiple hdds-systems(6). all running as one system. i have a wireless-usb-modem(provider-antenna sitting 20m away on the roof) everything was running perfectly since february until the day we had to replace that hardware. maybe it was a software-fault that i had no more internet-connection. in the meantime i didnt run all of the 6 systems often. and i didnt care a lot about security-updates(only windows and av), or at least did not run av etc. i have been running the security-advices shown at wilderssecurity. plus the escan-tricks shown at trojaner-board.de
new was that i could not run adaware 2008 in safe mode(question asked in their forum) and i in normal mode i have new problems running kaspersky onlinescanner, the same problems like with pandasoftware onlinescanner(activescan). i could run both, kaspersky only once or twice but have never precisely found out where to look and make changings. i think its in internet-explorer.
the main problems now are different.
1. FF 20014 but also 1505 crashes from time to time, sometimes quickly after using internet, sometime much later. despite all cleaning and defragging-actions.
2. a bit later came serverproblems. sublinks could only be reached by clicking twice on the popup-warning(server not reached blablabla).
3. disconnection from internet. in that row.

maybe my DDR-ram is defective? how can i check?
before exchanging them i wolud rather exchange the modem.
at the moment i have no alternative to this wireless usb-modem.
i would be very pleased if you have an alternative to pandasoftware and kaspersky-online-scanner or a hint where to look. it cannot be win32sec.exe from dingens.org it worked earlier together.
btw: i also tried out FF 3 beta but when i saw problems dealing with favorites i stopped using. but its installed.
in the next day i will have my winxp-drive 320gb. we will see.
thanks a lot despite sunday-work for you.

There is no more support and updates for Win2K.

Try running Trend Micros Housecall free anti-virus and anti-spyware scanner. You can run it in normal mode. It is slow but very effective. It uses a java script to run.

i excuted everything. i am now using netscape 7.1(is there a newer one?)
this problem not solved when using FF 20014(was working properly for weeks):
e.g. if i open a new favorite(e.g. sysopt) it is saying could not connect to server. i try twice of three times. slow usb-modem but it worked properly since february.
maybe in july i will have another wireless. richtstrahl(beam) i dont know the right expression. i igetting the signal from telephone-cabins. must be properly installed(men must be protested from the rays which could cause headache. thanks
restart still slow(2 min) despite installing that windowstool(wga-validation needed)

I would suggest you run a full scan using Trend Micro Housecall scanner.

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

It takes a while to run the scan but it may find some problems that you can fix.

when writing here window will be refreshed but then i see "server not found". i have usb-modem(wireless). i have to try again to get connection. this is new. will check if its FF- and hdd-exclusive.
this sometimes happens also when when changing websites using sublinks.
will check again after running more security-programs.

online anti virus scanners

A list of some of them.
http://www.malwarehelp.org/online_anti_virus_scanners.html

If a program can not remove something, note the address where it is at and go digging.

You have got a mess on your hands.

Now this is strickly my thoughts, but if that computer was mine or that of a client, I would do a clean install after using DBAN on the drive for 3 full passes.
http://dban.sourceforge.net/

.
The search I used to find that.

it is wonderfully working now. its the only adaware left i cannot yet find a solution. it was also a ff 20014-problem and really a provider-one. i have a slow usb-modem(wireless) but its sensationally quick, even when ebay-bidding. when time i ripe i will use that cleaning-software. i have already digged through the informations before. always thankfull for worthy links.

in german trojaner-board.de someone has found out that it would reappear. it would connect to b3d. bodypaint3d-ending of e.g. irfanview.unchecking the box and removing it would help. if one needs it just check it. but then i suspect it could return again.
that was exactly one year ago.
