I have a strange problem on my hands, a co-worker has a micron laptop that was passed down from someone who left the company.Well, he wanted to change some things and I wanted to look at system info so I right clicked on the my comp icon and nothing showed up.I then went to control panel and tried to go to system icon, nothing. This is weird, I haven't tried going into regedit to look at the info, just wondering why it wont show system info when right clicked, but it pulls up all the drives, etc when you left click on the my comp icon on the desktop. any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.thanks folks MP

Make sure the right mouse button functions first.

Naa, stay outta the registry. If it's not set up, go to control panel and add remove programs, windows setup, system tools and see if it's checked.. Some laptops I've seen with 95 are a bit hollow on the programs side. If it's not listed in the windows setup,, uhh. oh well. hope this helps.. Take me to your leader.

well, I can't mess with his laptop today(day off)and I work nights thru the weekend so it will be next week before I get to mess with it again. Bill, the right button works on evertything else except this icon so I think its working ok. Scotter, I don't get any kind of error message when I try to access the info, it wont do anything.I might try to talk him through to see if the system tools stuff is on his machine so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for the help and when I figure it out, I'll post back and tell you what fixed it.

Hey guys, my co-worker called me at home today and told me something, he said when he booted up this morning, he went to the my comp icon and when he right clicked it, it worked! I am guessing that if he had several apps open, it took alot, if not all, his memory and would not let the system properties work/open? It's weird..the machine only has 64 Mb of mem,and when we looked at it yesterday, it had been on most of the day. I have read about "memory leaks" giving low mem warnings if the machine is left on for a long time, but do you think him having those apps(excel, outlook, and a terminal emulator open) could cause this? Do any of these have TSR stuff associated with them? Forgive my ignorance, still learning all the little stuff that can make windows wig-out! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
