on secondary channel i have an older dvd-rom and a new sony dru 190a dvd-burner. since that installation at startup win2k i see the information that no 80-pin-cable is installed.
in sysopt-information and BPBs statement is said no u80-pin-cable is needed. still correct?
maybe this is the reason why i cannot play smooth video-panning(videocamera on a turntable) on my w2k-system. maybe winxp will help. athlon 1800+/2gb ddr, fx 5200 160/8 hdd. thanks a lot.

80-wire cables are not helpful for speed because optical drives are not capable of speeds greater than UDMA33.

They are helpful for installations where you use Cable Select (CS). If you use CS, the cable must be 80-wire. If you use Master-Slave settings, 40-wire cables are fine.
