I have some used hard drives that I'm trying to determine why the label sticker capacity is so much different than what's showing up in windows disk management.
For instance I have a Samsung IDE drive that has 120 GB showing on the label but when I format the drive there is only 111.81 GB showing in disk management. What is the best tool to use to see bad sectors on a hard drive?

There's nothing wrong with the drive. check out this link from Best of Data Storage.

Why is my drive displaying a slightly less than expected capacity in Windows or Mac? It's the difference between decimal and binary.

120 GB 120,000,000,000/1024 = 111.76 GB
