I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. I'll try to be brief in describing my problem. I decided to upgrade my system FROM the following:

-Abit TX5, Pentium 233MMX, 64MB EDO RAM, Virge (w/Voodoo2), AWE 64 Soundblaster

TO the following:

-Abit BF6, Celeron 366, 64MB PC133 RAM, Voodoo3 2000 PCI, Monster MX300

I scavenged all the other original components: hard drive, CD-ROM, floppy and modem. I also switched over from an AT case to an ATX case and power supply. Just to be safe before I converted, I uninstalled all the hardware I didn't need except for the old Virge video card. I planned on putting just the drives and the video card into the new setup and then adding the Voodoo3, MX300, etc. once I verified everything was okay.

Everyone I talked to said I shouldn't have any problems with the conversion as far as Windows 98 goes. I assumed there was no need to reformat since I didn't want to lose my data. But when I switched over, Windows and DOS won't recognize my floppy drive AND my CD-ROM. I tried putting in a different floppy drive, but that made no difference whatsoever. I know I have everything hooked up properly as far as cables and power supply, and everything is identified correctly in CMOS. But I can't get either to be recognized in Windows and DOS. I'm almost to the point where I'm willing to just reformat, but that won't do me any good if I can't get TO my floppy and CD-ROM! Any ideas as to what's wrong here?

well if your floppy isn't even accessible in DOS, have you gone into BIOS to be sure that everything is set properly? and you may want to check the usual suspects: data cables not reversed, bent/broken pins on connectors both on the drives as well as the mobo, power seated properly on all drives ....etc, etc.
