How do i get direct (low level)controll over the irda

I want to be able to receive infra red from non standard devices, how do i do this?

You will need to write or find a driver that will allow you to read and write data at the byte or maybe but level for the comm ports. C has some dos.h type stuff that will do this. I had to do some projects like this in school with my interfacing computers class. I will look for old notes.


I believe that Mondo electronics (http://www.robotstore.com/) has a good book called The Complete Comm Port.
