From what I have experienced and read it would be up to the motherboard to support it. And of course the harddrive.

The board would have had to been made within the last year for one thing. Most boards will run an ata66 drive but they have to be fairly new to actually utilize the ata66 speed. If it's an old board it will run the drive but it will be at 33.

Unfortunately, your mobo will not support ata66 since the BX chipset does not support this feature.

You can however still use an ata66 drive with it in ata33 mode. I'm doing this with one of my older boxes with no problems.

In some cases you might have to download an utility from the drive manufacturer to make it work.

To confirm check out: www.qdigrp.com/eng/f_bx.htm (http://www.qdigrp.com/eng/f_bx.htm)

I could be wrong, but I believe this is the mobo you're referring to.
