Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : ODBCCP32.cpl corrupt - where to find a new one?
Hi folks - I'm recovering from a bad TWEAKUI experience which was causing several KERNEL32.dll errors - I'm left with this one -
Rundll32 caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.dll -
I get this when I'm in control panel and attempt to do anything in the ODBCCP32 applet.
MS help files indicate that replacing the *.cpl file with a fresh extracted version will fix this issue. {hey - I'm willing to try it}
Here's the problem - I've looked in each of my win95 cab files and cannot locate a version of this file. I'm thinking something else installed it, - identified the specific file version as ver 03.00.2301 of odbccp32.cpl
Does anyone know where I can find a copy of this control panel applet? - Anyone got a copy they'd send me in an attachment? Searches of MS sites haven't located a copy of if, although it identifies itself in <properties> as a MS product.
I'm on an HP Vectra VLI8 running win95 version C

Axel,
All you will have to do is find someone that is running Win95C and copy their .CPL file from their c:/windows/system folder to your c:/windows/system folder. Unfortunatley I no longer have a Win95C machine on my network so all of my versions of that file are newer than the one you are requesting.
Sorry not to be of more help http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I got a new version from a fellow sysopter, but it is a higher file version number - where can I find out if that matters or not?
I'll be checking the MS and winfile areas to see if they have anything on it.
Then there's always "sneaker net" - for those of you who are not totally aware of that term - it means taking a floppy to the next computer and copying what you need. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Perhaps the newer file I received is better and that's what I want. - we'll see.
The saga continues -
Replaced the corrupt file with one from a neighbor - he had the newer file version as native in his system as well, this makes me think that a program install may have forced an older and larger version of the file in place of the new one -
Current error message reads :RunDLL32 caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.dll
So - I'm thinking perhaps rundll32 is my current issue as I've replaced the offending *.cpl file and the kernel32 file.
Still looking for ideas out there - I'll post results as I progress.

have you replaced the kernel32.dll yet? heck while you are at it go to http://solo.abac.com/dllarchive and get the rundll32 as well and see if that fixes the errors...

Hi Axel,
Check for MS DLL versions here also: http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/fileversion/default.asp?
Some others to check?
When you install Dial-Up Networking ... http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q182/2/93.ASP
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q191/1/52.ASP
Stabbing in dark: DUN 1.3 installed?
http://www.microsoft.com/NTServer/nts/downloads/recommended/dun13win95/sysreq.asp
http://support.microsoft.com/support/downloads/dp3267.asp
If for any reason you still need the DLLs stock from Win95C, email me as I have the CD.
Good luck with this!
