is there details button you can push? if so, do so and see what module is causing the errors. alternatively search for a file called faultlog.txt on your hd and look at it. it shows all the illegal operations that have occured since the last install of windows, or the last time you have wiped the file. let me know how that goes and i will give you some websites to help you replace the faulty file(s)...

This is just a long-shot, but excessive illegal function errors can be caused by a processor that is too hot. I almost broke each piece of hardware in my old system 2 years ago when I kept getting illegal function errors for no reason in the same spots all the time. I had no idea what was wrong. Turned out to be a loose cable on the fan and it wouldn't run consistently.

Hey deep_sky,
I could not find a file faultlog.txt; could you double check the spelling? I am running win98se.
Thanks, Ilya

Ilya...
I double and triple checked the spelling, and it is spelled faultlog.txt
There must be a difference in our installs. You could try creating a file called faultlog.txt in your c:\windows directory, and then see if anything is written to it when gpf happens....
