I have this video card: http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listConfigurationDetails.jspa;jsessionid=aMPNEj3u2 dwfgUlupN?series=GeForce%26trade%3B+7900&productConfigurationId=186017

I'm thinking about buying this video card off ebay: http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listConfigurationDetails.jspa;jsessionid=aMPNEj3u2 dwfgUlupN?series=GeForce%26trade%3B+7900&productConfigurationId=186019

Same brand, but one is "extreme." Can I use them in SLI?

The first link goes to a general page. What card to you have? The cards need to be in the same family. Most times if they are, the faster card, if it's just a over clocked version of the slower card, will just run at the lower clocked cards speed and SLI just fine.

The video cards have to be identical.

Same identical cards... YES. the one whatever it was obviously uses different bus speeds, not to mention some other aspects. Just that fact alone would cause conflicts and doubt would even work at all. lol
