Unkown Flash Type

I just installed a new Amptron 9900 MB in a machine. During boot-up just before the OS loads I get a message "Unknown Flash Type"

The system pauses for a few seconds---then continues on.

Can anyone tell me what this message means and how do I fix it????

Try re-flashing the BIOS?

Or did you flash it already & have some quirks while doing so?

Obviously if the machine boots, the BIOS works, but perhaps it was flashed with the wrong utility or something.

tried to flash bios with new one from Amptron's website, It stopped part way through giving me the exact same error---"Unknown Flash Type" and gave me an A:>

Would it help to Clear CMOS?

Possibly, but probably not.

If the problem gets really serious, get a new BIOS chip from the manufacturer. The chips are socketed, and you can swap them without much difficulty.

You may need a flat head screwdriver though.
