I have a AMD2.4 ghz SD core cpu on a nice asus mobo with 2 gigson fairly good DDR (2 1g sticks) with an good 480w psu. I run 1 SATA2 320g HD, and 2 IED Hd's (a 120g & 40g) - have 2 USB2 HD esturnal enclosures that are on thier own switch and not on full time.
Runs rock steady at 233fsb x 12x mult. & 5x set hypertransport (not set as auto - says 1167 HT clock))@ 1.425vdc CPU core ,....2.75vdc DDR 2.5 latency...
PCIe clocked to 118...
Mobo temp (w/o load says 32c, CPU temp w/o load says 35c. I have a realy nice heat pipe transfer cooler with a 90cm fan, 1 - 120cm case intake bottom front in case, 2 - 80mm out fans just below the P/S - mid tower case....
Anyway....CP range says 1.1 to 14.vdc and not sure "stock" DDR vdc off hand...
I can get to almost 3 ghz but not "rock solid" there...
What would be the highest SAFE range you'd expect out of my CPU / DDR votages??? Anyone run a 2.4 SD core that could tell me what they run???
...would a lower mulitliper / higher FSB give better actual performance???
BTW: ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 939 :( mobo.....
Thanks in advance!!!

Sigh.... have to give my stock answer: "it depends". Each cpu/mobo/dimm etc has a difference tolerance to voltage/over clocking/heat etc. I have had cpu's that I have oc'd 50% on not much more than a 10% voltage bump. Have had others of the same model require insane voltage to get just 20%. Your biggest factor is going to be heat. I have two quads in my render farm that are identical in set up. Both have the same mobo, memory, cooler etc. Both cores have been lapped, as has the coolers, Thermaltake Typhoons. One always runs 5 to 7 c cooler than the other. On air cooling I would suggest keeping below 15% increase on your vcore.

....that's the thing...somewhere I saw it said 1.1 to 1.4vdc so + 10% of 1.4 is 1.54 but +15% of 1.1 is only 1.21vdc...
....anyone know for sure what the vdc of this CPU realy is???....I think my mobo auto set it at 1.4vdc but not 100% sure....If is is in fact 1.4vdc then only 5% would be 1.47vdc and I have never gone above 1.425 and get 2.9+ghz with maybe a 2-3 c degree increase in cpu temp....
...so I guess I should have asked the true core voltage of a SD core 4000+ AMD, or are there different ones???
...and yes....I knew the "stock" answer but thanks for the reminder.....
....guess I could go to 1.4375 and see....then maybe 1.45 but unless I know that might be as far as I'd chance it....
Thanks!!!

What's the model number. Guessing it's a X2 4600?

....so 1.35 to 1.4 vdc.... 1.35 x 10% = 1.485....so I might go as high as 1.45 but not above 1.4625 for sure.....
....probaly stay at 1.4375 as a max...
....and the DDR voltage??? I'm at 2.75....what's common for VDC???....it's not top of the line ram but upper mid range.....can't remember the brand......
Thanks again!!
