go to your win.ini file in your windows directroy. copy it and call your new copy, win.bak. Then, go back into your win.ini file and find the line that has ad.exe in it, just delete that line. DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE.

if you do mess something up, use a boot disk to restart your computer in DOS mode and copy your back up of win to the win.ini

ryu - as we aren't sure exactly how new you are to all of this, here are a few more details -

You can open & edit the win.ini file with a program called <notepad.exe> which is in your c:\windows folder on your hard drive.
Or, even simpler - <start> <run> "sysedit" <enter> - this will open you up to an edit window. -

I'd suggest using notepad for a few reasons listed below. Sysedit won't let you do some of them.

Before you make any changes, as WIZ suggests, you can make a back-up from notepad of the file by doing a <file> <save-as> and calling the file "win.bak". Then make your changes to the file - then do a <file> <save-as> "win.ini" - when it asks you if you want to replace the file that already is called win.ini, say yes.

To find all of the references to your problem file within "win.ini", use the search tool at the top to locate each instance of "ab.exe" in the file. Don't assume there is only one entry. You may have to pick apart lines in the file to make this work.
