OK....what's the deal? Is it available? Is it going to do something important for me? Wht\at's new in it, and should I have it?
Now, I suppose I can get it at MS.com?????? Is it a regular update?, or is there something special you gotta do?
Thanks

I'm guessing you mean XP SP3. No, it is not officially out. Still on beta.

Why all the question marks? One should be sufficient.

What I have read about it, it seems to be non essential for the everyday user. If you are having no issues I would not consider it a priority. If it is security that you are concerned about..just run Windows update and pick and choose the ones(updates) that apply to your system, setup.

Running Windows Update, on a Regular Basis, (Bill Gates) says to...You get it there Free...Big Whoop!
Don't know if it improves anything, but it make me want to start over,

Seems largely to be a roll up of security updates mor than anything - it doesnt add anything noticable (for most users anyways) in terms of new features or improved performance.

I put XP SP3 on my two machines, X64 SP2 on two, and Vista SP1 on the last two.
Zero problems with any of them and they all seem to be slightly faster running programs acording to my BOINC SETI results.

SP1 for Vista is pretty much a must have in terms of improving general performance

The only problem I've seen is with OEM AMD systems, but that's not Microsoft's fault.
Other than that, you should be fine.
