I have two pcs. I want to put the hard drive from the one running WIN95 into the one running WIN98. Would you please tell me how?
I know you set the existing one to master and the one I am adding to slave. I want to delete WIN95. I just want to do it right so I don't lose anything on the old hard drive.
Thanks for your help.

If I understand you want to erase the 95 and use the drive in the pc with 98 on it? Boot the 95 pc with a boot floppy and type in
format c: and hit enter. This erases the HD.
You then install the drive in the 98 pc. You have 2 options:primary slave, secondary master. Depending on where your cd-rom is. If the cd is on the same cable as the 98 HD then you install the 95 HD as secondary master. Don't change the jumper. You'll need another ide cable to go from the secondary ide plug on the board to the drive. If the cd-rom is on a seperate cable from the 98 HD then you need to jump the 95 HD as a slave and hook it to the cable that goes to the 98 HD. These cables have a colored line down one side this side must correspond to the #1 pin on the HD and the #1 pin on the ide plug on the board. After it's installed go into the cmos setup and either auto-detect the drive or set the HD specs to AUTO.

Formatting the drive would of course take everything off the drive.
Sorry for not reccomending the best way to do this but I can see a possible problem if the win 95 drive is fat16.

There is no easy way to port the applications from the old drive to the new drive if thats what you are trying to do.
