I've been told no common MotherBoard with RAID can handle more than 2TB's. Is this true ?

If so, if I use 1TB HD's, I can use only (2) of them, in a RAID 0 or a RAID 1? Or can I use (4) 1TB HD's set up in RAID 0+1 that will have a useful capacity of 2TB's ?

Or is this 2TB Limit bunk ?

There is a file system limit of 2TB. It's not the motherboard.

You will need Windows XP x64 Edition or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Vista, or later for GPT support.

Wow. I am using Vista, but with 1TB Hard Drives becoming common, I hope MicroSoft is working on this problem. People are saving HDTV to their HD's, and GB's are getting consumed real fast. It's a real pain to use more than one Virtual Drive.

My HTPC is nearly complete. It will have (1) PATA Boot Drive, but I was hoping to use (3) 1TB SATA HD's in a RAID 5, as a SINGLE Virtual Drive for HDTV Data.

It seems that will not be possible.

Or does Vista 32 use GUID Partition Tables ? I'm not going the 64 bit route. Too many potential problems with drivers (I think).

What Operating Sysytem are you using ?

Are you using RAID ?

They are SATA II HD's, right ?
