Hi,
My brother is running win95. He got the w97m-jack-box virus (no antivirus software). He d/l a trial version of Norton 2000antivirus. Something went wrong. After d/l and install he rebooted as instructed and got this error message:
"While initializing device IOS:
error: an I/O subsystem driver failed to load. Either a file in the .\iosubsystem subdirectory is corrupt or the system is low on memory."
He has a couple of gigs free. He can only reboot to safe mode. And on his desktop, along with the Norton Antivirus icon, there's an icon to resume d/l. Because he can only boot into safe mode he can't get online. He uninstalled NAV but the error remains.
Is this error connected to the virus or something else?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kay

In order for Norton to work correctly you need to have a copy of it on hand. What he is trying to do is download a Anti Virus into a already infected computer. Go out and purchase a retail copy of Norton and you should get an emergency disk with it, or the option to make one when you install the program. If it is the latter you need to install it on another system to make the disk. Then boot the infected computer with a clean boot disk then insert the emergence disk. I hope this helps and maybe some one else out here has a different way of solving your problem this is the only way I know. Good luck Butchk http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
