Which is better?

I have the chance to aquire a 3Ghz Wolfdale Engineering sample which shall be refered to as the special processor in this thread. I currently have a q6600 clocked at 3.2Ghz, 8x400. Now this Special processor has a unlocked multiplier and runs cooler with lower voltages. I really dont do anything at all that would require me to always have 4 cores. I do overclock with a decent air cooler. Which is better in the gaming arena, my overclocked Q6600 or the Wolfdale with unlocked multipliers?

Well on the serious side, the Wolfdale should overclock very well. 4 gig is not out of the question on air. Better for gaming, at least most, than the Q right now and in the foreseeable future.

the multipliers are locked on this one. sigh. was hoping that they would be unlocked.

i know for a fact my computer will do 450 FSB 24/7, now if the ES can handle it is the question.

i must be doing something wrong, cuz at 3.93 Ghz i have to use 1.425v to make it stable. I will post pictures of my bios after my next reboot. Hopefully i can get it ironed out and make it run at 4ghz with hopefully lower voltage.

Your sig specs show an Abit mobo, but the last pic mentions ASUS Advanced Q-Fan Control. Same computer? :confused:

Yea, what mobo is it? 1.7 on the NB? Hope you got good cooling on that puppy.

its the Asus P5K-E Wifi/app with an active cooler and i did the BOLT mod on the mosfet cooler to give it better contact with the cooler. Also, nothing will read my temps correctly, so ya, i wish it was -27c on the CPU.
