On booting my computer i receive this error message...

Award BootBlock BIOS 1.0
BIOS ROM checksum error

Is this a motherboard, CMOS, or video rom error? and what can I do to resolve this?

it could be that your motherboard has protection against viruses that try to overwrite your cmos bios, and a virus is trying to do just that.

try to update your antivirus definitions and scan for viruses.

Actually, i did NOT flash the BIOS,
but coincidentally, i have been hunting for my motherboards AWDFLASH file.
Found it here (BH6)
http://www.abit-usa.com/english/download/index.htm

Will flashing or updating the bios correct this problem?

A flash update could help. I had a BIOS crippled by, let's just say, a power surge. It said checksum error, and couldn't retain custom settings after a power down. The flash update cured it completely.

Thanks for the tips!
I will attempt a BIOS upgrade as directed,
-I am not worried about losing any custom settings but i am still worried about how such a thing could happen...
I will post my results after upgrading

Could also be a bad CMOS battery. Easy to replace.

did you recently "flash" your BIOS with a new one? -
