Usually, you need to download and execute a flash program that writes
the new BIOS code to the chip you are interested in upgrading.

It's best if you can get the instructions from your motherboard site for your flash, but if not, here's some good threads that should help you.

I am sure Socalgal's links address this, but be extremely careful when flashing a BIOS. Wrong upgrade path or problems when flashing could cause your system to become a paperweight, at least until you get another BIOS chip or equivalent fix.
