Hey guys,

My desktop computer is hooked up to my network, configured with a static IP address. It is running windows media center 2005 so I leave it on and stream data from it to other devices. It was previously connected to my router via 802.11G and after being on for a couple of days it would lose its connection. But not in the traditional sense. Everything would seem fine in windows. The control panel would indicate I was connected, although no packets would come in or go out. I could not ping my gateway. I would try repairing the connection in the control panel which would succeed but not fix the problem. I would try disabling and re-enabling the wireless device to no effect. When I would open up firefox it wouldn't even try to access any website, nevermind timeout. The only thing that would fix the situation every time was a reboot. So I figured it was my wireless card. However, I switched over to my built in hardwired connection to find the same problems. It must be a software issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you have power saver mode enabled for the NIC?

No I do not have power saver mode enabled for the NIC. I ran the Winsock fix and have not had the problem in 48 hours. However I don't know exactly how long it takes to get to the screwed up state.
