If my host only allows up to 50 connections, is that too low?

They blocked my IP and claimed I had overused resources by uploading/downloading , checking email and browsing my sites at the same time. They say their limit is 50 connections. Is it too low?

That would depend on how much you pay a month.

I make my living off of my website. I use www.***************.com and I have been VERY happy with them.

Now, if you have 50 simultaneous connection, that means you are getting a buttload of traffic since most people bounce off of a site within 30 seconds. To constantly have 50 connections would... well, it would make your site interesting enough for alexa to start contacting you. ;)
