Thks> I downloaded the latest Spybot S & D about three weeks ago. I didn't however uninstall 'Spaywareblaster' in the manner you suggested, yet i've had no issues. Are you saying there could be an issue if you don't un-install SB and update before installing the latest SB S & D ? Both of those porgrams i have and use and are updated. No issues reported. LOL :t
Fancy fancy... every now and then you poke yur head out and there you are.. How have ya been?

sometimes we need sometimes no admin-rights to install programs. is there a general rule? i will see with swb. both are most important and effeective. i also use spywareguard. updates are seldom if any.

Spywareblaster has never ever caused any kown problems for me, when installing, whatever old version or latest updated.
Good thing i looked at this post. I went to un-install my older version and or update, and found it wasn't even there. Strange. installled the latest 4.0 without a hitch and all protected.
Again, Thks. Fancy for the heads up gal.

Sometimes, all you need to do is custom install a program to any directory *except* Program Files and admin rights will not be needed.

Well, it's always a good idea to read the Help file...
It doesn't scan or run in the background. You update it and simply enable all protection. It locks some settings and immunizes against certain bugs.

There you are.... good answer Bill.
Fancy, i'm trying hard to stay conceled from everyday life. , but its hard to tell since i'm like a cameleon. Every so often i take a quick peek just to see if this world is still working :r Since its Friday, i'm sure i'll find a way to mess something up. So far everything is top notch.
P.S. I use this day and night to run most all my AV and spyware programs, and or update.
Wish i had the monies to buy that 'Adware Away. looks like a top notch spyware program and then some. ;)
