I just acquired an AT&T PC6300 with an 8086 CPU. No, I did not give any money for it. My friend gave me several floppys for it but none seem to work. I realize that the data on the floppys may corrupted. How do I use this thing?

Well, I think it's obvious that you won't be installing Windows on there anytime soon. I've actually fixed two of these machines over the summer, basically for word processing purposes. First of all, these computers were built when only 720K floppies were available, i.e., your computer will never recognize 1.44 MB disks. Secondly, if this computer has a HD(they originally didn't, everything ran off of floppies), it will be in an ISA slot (there's no IDE interface on these things), and it probably will be around 40MB. Using this computer requires you to remember very old DOS commands. Secondly, programs for these machines are tough to find. If you want to, email me, and I'll tell you what I have in terms of programs as well as some commands you'll need.
Note: These things really aren't great for parts in my opinion. Most of the stuff is too old to use.

I had an i8088 PS/2 mod 30 a little while back. She ran Windows 3.0 fine!!! Just don't expect much from "Task Swapping" hehehe. She had a 20mb HDD though.
