I have ghosted several gateway laptops and now the floppy drive will not format diskettes or create bootable diskettes. I thought that it was related to the virus program i was running so I took it off. But I still am not able to format. I get a blue "unable to write disk in drive A - data or files mayb be lost" or "The diskette is bad - it has a corrupt fat table". If I format in safe mode I am OK. I have deleted the floppy controller and reinstalled. I have also deleted the PCI Bus and reinstalled. I don't want to reinstall Windows 95b. Any suggestions?

get a floppy drive cleaner and some compressed air and clean the drive out
also try a new drive cable if that does not work it's time for a new floppy drive
they only last so long http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I went in to safe mode - device manager/floppy controller and disbaled in this hardware profile. When I booted up I can now format and make bootable diskettes with no problem. Any comments?
