When I installed AOL 4.0, it changed the IE web browser's logo that spins in the upper right corner during the loading of web pages. It was changed to an AOL logo, how can I change the logo back to the standard logo that came with Windows98?

Try uninstalling IE40 from Add/Remove Programs - it should let you uninstall it and leave you with the previous configuration.

You must have used an AOL 4.0 CD on a machine that did not have IE 4.01 installed. The customized AOL version of IE4 add a couple of entries in the Internet Explorer key inside your registry.

The easier way is to reinstall IE 4.01 using a standard IE4.0 from Microsoft. If you want to poke around the registry then check inside local machine, software, microsoft, internet explorer, main.

I don't have a current setup that has these customization implemented, so I could not give you the exact location and keys. If you find any reference of AOL in the string section of that entry, it is most likely relating to the customization. Usually not only the moving icon is changed, also the bar name now has AOL in it.

While we're on the subject of AOL plastering it's logo everwhere, has anyone else been perturbed by the high number of shortcuts that they place on your computer when you install AOL4.0. They have a shortcut in the system tray, the taskbare, the desktop, and twice in the startmenu. That's 5 different ways to launch AOL. Kindof a lot for an online service that obviously wants users to limit their time online.

I delete most of them. The only one I left is the one next to IE4 on the left side of the bottom bar. Before, the installation of previous AOL versions ask if you want additional icons. I did not noticed that option anymore.
