Hey Guys,
I am turning one of my desktops into a Media Server. This computer will be on my gigabit network and store all of my Media (Movies, Music, Recorded TV) in addition to being a DVR (using Windows Media Center Edition 2005). I am about to purchase some storage for the system and was wondering what you would suggest. I was initially going to simply buy a 500 GB SATA drive and leave it at that. But then I got to thinking that perhaps I could benefit from a RAID array. The data stored on the array would be non-critical (recorded television, ripped dvds, etc). My primary concern is performance. I will be accessing this data from remote machines pretty much exclusively. Do you think I could benefit from a RAID configuration? Or is the benefit moot because I am accessing it VIA a network. Thanks in advance!
