I'm been trying to burn some TIVO files onto DVD's, both in my Tivo Toshiba RX-120 DVR DVD-R Recorder, and in my computer.
I've been having many failures, and have about 30 discs that failed, in one machine or the other.
I suspect (or hope) that some of these discs are still usable. They are DVD-R discs.
Is there a way to check them, to see if some may be ok to use later ?

Try to find a media brand that works. Some of them will not.

Thanks Train, but that's not it. I have (at least) four different brands; most are DVD-R; some are DVD-RW.
Anyhow, I'm more interested in a method to test coasters, that may actually not BE coasters.
I'd rather not try to burn to them a second time as a test, though I suspect that's what I'll end up doing.
I am able to take some coasters that have failed TIVO data on them, and Format the remainder of the disc so as to store Data on them.
But I don't use DVD's to store Data; I use External Hard Drives and Web Backups. So that doesn't help me.

Well, I've started just trying to burn them over again. I try about 6 of them or so: they all fail. Then I try a fresh disc: it works fine. Repeat.
So far none of the coasters can be saved. I guess that's life.

what program are you using to burn DVDs on your computer? Nero has an checkbox option to verify burning.
did you try burning at slower speeds?
