I am running a AMD K6 processor at 300MHz. It is in a TMC Motherboard, VIA 100MHz using an Award BIOS. I have 64MB SDRAM and a 2.4GB hard drive. I hope that I got all of the necessary tech data correct.
I just recently upgraded to Windows 98 second addition from Windows 95 and added a USB card for a new USB scanner and printer. That all seemed to go well and my computer worked fine for several days.
I then got the idea to get more space on my C drive by repartitioning my drive so that I could move the excess 400MB from my E drive to my C drive. It had been placed there because I guess Windows 95 with FAT16 could only recognize up to 2.0GB in one partition.
To repartion the drive I used Partition Commander. I also converted to FAT32. The repartioning and FAT32 conversion initially seemed to go well, however I now have intermittent problems when I initially bootup.
About half the times when I bootup and the BIOS begins to run I get a message in RED after the "verifying DMI pool data" statement that says: "BIOS ERROR 20 READING HARD DISK". I can sometimes correct this problem just by attempting another boot.
I called the tech people that work with Partition Commander and they say it isn't a problem with their software and I can't find any number to call the BIOS people at Award.
What does BIOS Error 20 mean?
Did I do something wrong?
Is my hard drive failing?
Is this something I can fix?
Thanks.
