Hi,
For those of you who have a ASUS p5k-e whi-ap mobo.
I just downloaded and installed the latest bios 0906, and my temps went down from 38c to 22c idle hot=29c. And I am OC by 650 MHz to 3050.
System cpu=Q6600
Cooling=water
Video=gt8600
Ram=4Gb
Psu Artic 700w
I just can't believe the bios made such a difference. All the temp software says the same.

I seriously doubt that the temps are really lower.

I would bet dollas to doughnuts that the temperate reporting software in the BIOS (or the calibration of the sensor) is what made the difference in the displayed temps.

Ok it's winter here temp is about 15 deg c.The core tempsare Q6600 the same 32/33c, system temps same 26c, cpu now 23c from the 38c before bios update. what would be the point of reporting the wrong temps, If it could mean damage to the cpu.

Since you are below 65C, you have nothing to worry about.
67C is where you start getting corruption in the 1's and 0's and of coarse that corrupts what is on the hdd and etc.

Maybe they found the reporting error and have now fixed it.

I contacted Asus about the temp readings, and this is the reply.

The new BIOS revised hardware monitor function, which will show the temperature more accurately.

Hi,
My last update, run prime 95 at 3200mhz today temps as follows idle 22 deg c,
under test 34/37 max.
Stable like a rock.
Has anyone had these results, I would like to know.

If you are at stock vcore, those temps are normal. My Q on my P35 Pro is oc'd right now to 380 vcore 1.33 in BIOS, 1.26 per CPUID and Everest. Got about 20C ambient, at 100% load CPU is at 34, cores ~42. Have a Coolit Eliminator at mid fan setting. The Q on one of my farm machines, GA-P35-DS3L, same oc' and vcore, Thermaltake Big Typhoon, fan on low is at 39 CPU, 47~ cores at 100%.
And Asus is known for having buggy BIOS's. Have a P5WDH Delx I bought the first week they came out. Went through 4 or 5 BIOS updates before MOST of the bugs got worked out including wrong temps etc.
