MadPistol 01-11-2008, 01:54 PM I think he may be asking about PCIe 4x... If that's the case, no. The slots have to both be 8x or 16x. Otherwise, it will not work. Midknyte 01-11-2008, 02:28 PM why don't you just ask "can i run 2600xts in crossfire on xxxx motherboard?" I thought he meant quad 2600XT like this: http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/VisiontekQuad/2600XTquad.php dotinh 01-11-2008, 02:53 PM thanks midknyte that the correct question.. i didnt know how to put it... Can i run 2600xt on XXX motherboard... thanks guy Midknyte 01-11-2008, 03:10 PM What motherboard are you running? That was the question. if you don't give specs, how are we supposed to know? if anything, you could check the manufacturer's site. 2600xts can be crossfired, but the motherboard makes or breaks it. dotinh 01-11-2008, 04:39 PM odel Brand MSI Model K9A2 Platinum Supported CPU CPU Socket Type AM2+/AM2 CPU Type Phenom FX / Phenom / Athlon 64FX / Athlon 64X2 FSB 2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s) Chipsets North Bridge AMD 790FX South Bridge ATI SB600 Memory Number of Memory Slots 4×240pin Memory Standard DDR2 1066 Maximum Memory Supported 8GB Dual Channel Supported Yes Expansion Slots PCI Express 2.0 x16 4 Gen.2 (16x+16x or Quad 8x) PCI Express x1 1 PCI Slots 2 Storage Devices PATA 1 x ATA100 2 Dev. It has four PCI-e slots and 2600Pros are cheap. (http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA9654855) I believe it would work if the application benefited from Crossfire. (Like SLI that is not universal). Then you would revert to using a single card, and a 2600 Pro is not a strong gaming card by itself. (It is DX10.0 capable on a Vista Machine). In the crossfire mode it might be the quad 2600 Pro would work well. I'll stick with a 3870 though. Edit Oops those were 2600XT's (http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA9654039) definitely a step up from the Pro, but same answer. SysOpt.com
